Tench Coxe (May 22, 1755 – July 17, 1824) was an American political economist and a delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress in 1788–1789. Samuel Wetherill, a Philadelphia manufacturer of cloth, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, was a birthright Quaker. During the American Revolution, he actively supported the military effort and was disowned from Philadelphia Monthly Meeting in 1779.
